Project 6
The owners of this house removed the existing carpet and discovered old Baltic pine flooring with a bit of Australian history. You will notice around the perimeter a black border has been induced into the timber. Remnants of this resourceful design technique evolved around the late 30’s early 40’s. At that time wool was in short supply due to the impending war effort, so carpet became a luxury and was installed frugally. The flooring was re-sanded and master polished. The stain colour is natural lime.
